At Atelier, your privacy matters. We're committed to being clear about what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. This policy applies to www.homeschoolart.com and any services we offer through our platform.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you choose to give us, and information collected automatically when you use our site.
You may choose to give us information when you create an account, purchase a program or supply kit, subscribe to emails, fill out a form, or request support. In those cases, you may provide your name, email address, postal address, payment information (processed securely through third-party providers), and any other information you choose to share.
When you visit our site, we automatically collect certain information, including your IP address, browser type and device information, the pages you view and time spent on the site, your general location (city/region level), and referring URLs. We use cookies and similar technologies (like pixels) to understand how the site is used and to improve your experience, and you can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.
2. How We Use Your Information

8. Student and Children’s Privacy
Atelier, a program of Arts Attack Publications, provides educational resources for schools, educators, families, and students in grades TK–8. We are committed to minimizing the personal information collected from students and collecting only information reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure, and support our educational services.
When individual student accounts are used, Atelier may collect limited information necessary to create and maintain the account, such as an email address and account credentials. Our systems may also automatically collect certain technical information necessary for the operation and security of the service, such as IP address, device and browser information, and usage information.
Atelier does not require students to provide a home address, telephone number, or payment information to access educational content. Atelier does not sell student personal information, use student personal information for targeted advertising or marketing, or create student profiles for advertising purposes.
For students under age 13, Atelier handles personal information in accordance with applicable requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). When Atelier is provided through a school for a school-authorized educational purpose, we may rely on authorization provided by the school where permitted by law. When parental consent is required, we will obtain it as required by applicable law.
Parents, guardians, schools, districts, and other Local Educational Agencies ("LEAs") may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of student account information, as applicable.
9. Educational records and FERPA
Atelier is committed to supporting schools, school districts, and other Local Educational Agencies (“LEAs”) in meeting their obligations under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable student privacy laws.
When a school, district, or other LEA provides Atelier with personally identifiable information from education records, Atelier uses that information only as authorized by the educational institution and solely for the educational purposes for which it was provided. Atelier does not sell student information or use information obtained through an educational institution for targeted advertising, marketing, or unrelated commercial purposes.
Schools, districts, and other LEAs retain ownership and control of student data and education records provided through their use of Atelier. Atelier does not acquire ownership rights in student education records or student personal information.
Where applicable, Atelier will work with schools, districts, and other LEAs to enter into appropriate student data privacy agreements or other contractual provisions governing the use, protection, retention, disclosure, and deletion of student information.

10. Artificial Intelligence and Student Data
Atelier does not use student personal information, education records, student inputs or prompts, student-generated content, or outputs to train, retrain, fine-tune, or otherwise improve artificial intelligence (“AI”) or machine-learning models.
Atelier does not transmit student personal information, education records, student inputs or prompts, student-generated content, or outputs to OpenAI, Google, or any other third-party AI provider or AI application programming interface (“API”) for processing.
Because Atelier does not transmit student data, prompts, or outputs to third-party AI providers, there is no third-party AI retention of such information.
Atelier does not maintain AI prompt histories, AI outputs, or AI transmission logs containing student personal information because Atelier does not process or transmit student data through AI systems.
Schools, school districts, and other Local Educational Agencies (“LEAs”) retain ownership and control of student data, student-generated content, and any student inputs or outputs provided through their use of Atelier. Atelier does not claim ownership of student data, student-generated content, student prompts or inputs, or student outputs.
Student information is collected and retained only as reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure, and support Atelier’s educational services and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. LEAs may request access to, correction of, or deletion of student personal information maintained by Atelier in accordance with applicable law and any applicable Data Privacy Agreement.
Atelier does not use AI or student information to create student profiles for targeted advertising, behavioral advertising, marketing, or other unrelated commercial purposes. Atelier does not sell student personal information or use student information for targeted advertising.
11. No Automated Algorithmic Decision-Making (Algorithmic Transparency)
Atelier does not use automated algorithmic decision-making, artificial intelligence, or automated profiling to make decisions about students. Atelier does not use automated or algorithmic decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning a student, does not generate AI-based or automated disciplinary alerts, behavioral flags, or risk scores about students, and does not create AI or algorithmic profiles of students for disciplinary, behavioral, advertising, or other purposes.
Atelier's educational services deliver instructional content and do not make automated determinations about individual students. If Atelier ever introduces any form of automated decision-making or profiling in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide notice as required by applicable law.
12. De-identified Data
"De-identified data" means information from which personal identifiers have been removed, and which cannot reasonably be used, alone or in combination with other reasonably available information, to identify a particular student or to be linked back to a particular student.
Atelier may create and use de-identified data for limited, permitted purposes, such as improving and demonstrating the operation, effectiveness, and security of our educational services, and for internal research and analytics, in accordance with applicable law.
When Atelier uses de-identified data, Atelier does not attempt to re-identify the data or re-link it to any individual student, does not attempt to identify any individual student from de-identified data, and requires by contract that any third party to whom Atelier may provide de-identified data agrees not to attempt to re-identify or re-link the data to any individual student.
13. Deletion of Student Data (LEA Rights)
A school, school district, or other Local Educational Agency ("LEA") has the right to request, at any time, the deletion of student personal information, student records, education records, usage logs, or other student data maintained by Atelier.
Upon a verified request from an authorized LEA representative, Atelier will delete the specified student data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or by a written agreement between Atelier and the LEA. Deletion requests may be sent to [email protected].
14. Family Opt-Out Rights
Families may opt out of non-essential data tracking, such as analytics and optional cookies, without losing access to the core educational functionality of Atelier. Opting out of this tracking will not prevent a student from accessing lessons, curriculum, or other core instructional features.
To opt out, families can fill out our form located at https://homeschoolart.com/opt-out-of-course-data. Some limited data processing that is strictly necessary to operate, secure, and provide the service may still occur, as described in this Policy.
15. Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, or loss. We periodically review our data practices and security measures and limit access to personal information to those who require it to provide or support our services.
