Founded in 1991 on a simple conviction — the arts are essential — Atelier has spent more than three decades creating high-quality, easy-to-teach visual art instruction for children. What began as a small set of classroom-tested video lessons is now a trusted online curriculum used by homeschool families, co-ops, and charter schools nationwide.
From the start, Atelier has focused on two things: real art education and real results.
Our developmental, process-oriented approach strengthens creativity, visual thinking, problem-solving, and confidence. And because every lesson is taught visually, any parent or co-op leader can guide meaningful art experiences — no art background required.
Today, tens of thousands of homeschoolers rely on Atelier for its user-friendly design, age-appropriate instruction, and joyful, skill-building lessons. Whether you’re teaching one child or a full group, Atelier gives you everything you need to help students create artwork they’re proud of — and to nurture creativity that lasts.

One mission: make real art education accessible to every child
Marcia Osterink — artist, educator, and the creator of both Arts Attack and Atelier — has spent more than 30 years proving that art isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s essential.
With a degree in Elementary Education and Studio Art, and a career teaching everything from kindergarten to college, Marcia built a program that demystifies art and makes it joyful, teachable, and accessible in any learning environment — homeschool, co-op, or classroom.
Her work has earned major recognition, including two Golden Bell Awards, the Del Mar Mayor’s Award, and the Pat Rees Millers Art Advocacy Award. Since 1991, she’s taught and inspired tens of thousands of students, parents, and teachers through clear instruction, hands-on process, and plenty of creative joy.
Today, Marcia is still the on-camera teacher and publisher behind Atelier, continuing her lifelong mission: to equip every educator and inspire every child through real, meaningful art education.
Atelier makes it easy for kids to create art
they’re proud of—step by step.

Atelier is an online, video-based art curriculum featuring 8 levels, each providing a full year of visual art instruction. Kids learn foundational skills—line, color, space, shape, form, texture, pattern, balance, emphasis—while exploring art history, creative expression, multicultural art, media exploration, and right-brain drawing techniques.
Atelier is built for homeschool families, co-op groups, and independent-study charter schools. Each level is easy to teach, visually modeled, and flexible enough to work with single students, siblings, or multi-age groups learning together.

After homeschooling for over 15 years, I can honestly say that Atelier Art is one of the best curriculum purchases I have ever made. My children and I have enjoyed the variety of lessons, regardless of our differences in age and ability. Thank you Atelier Art for giving me a lifetime of memories creating art together!

As a homeschool parent with no art background, I was afraid to teach art. However, I have found Atelier to be so well-organized and so easy to use that I now love to teach it and my children have enjoyed accomplishment well beyond my expectations.

Using the Atelier program, our co-op is able to teach 15-20 children at a time. Since the video does the teaching for us, we are available to assist the children without missing a beat. It's wonderful!

My observation is that, with the Atelier art lessons for children, every child has fun and success, shows an increase in self-confidence, and truly learns the fundamentals of creating and appreciating art! Both students and parents are proud of the results. I especially love the concepts that are taught and lessons in contour right-brain drawing. By their second year using the program, my children's creative development had accelerated by leaps and bounds. And, best of all, it's really fun!
